Garden of cave also known as Ka Bri Ki synrang, a natural space, a crystal clear water, surrounded by the hedges and green bushes situated 4.9km from Laitmawsiang. The landscape of green forest, small caves, waterfall leads to this fantastic trail. The garden is 2.5 hectare property

which is the breathtaking spot. Each spot comprises of major places of  interest i.e. The King's cave or Palong Syiem, Sum Syiem falls, U Mawdohnud - a heart - shaped rock, Ki Stich Maw- a warrior rock, U Mawkhyllung or Baby rock, Riat Umlwai, Arshad falls.

Nature Creates its Own Falls


The identity of Garden of Cave in the ancient history goes back to the British ruled in India. As record in the history during the rule of British, the Khasi tribes used to hide in the caves from the invasion by the British soldiers. These Prominent Caves used to provide shelter from the rain, and used to provide them food and necessities. It is dense jungle, the rays of Sunlight reflect on the ponds and in turn light up the whole space creating a scenic beauty of  the fall. After one enter into the Garden of  Cave one can find steps to the spot :

Palong Syiem

It is beautifully carved with bed like structure on the inside.  It’s name is literally known as King's Cave. In historic age, a King or a Tribal Chief once slept in this place. It is a walk able distance where there are 11 waterfall spot inside the Garden of cave perfect for a quiet retreat inter connected by the peeking rays of  Sun.

Kshaid Sum Syiem

This is the unique and distinctive Sum Syiem fall lies is north of Synrang Syiem. It falls along a naturally carved orifice through the rock. This is a unique structure where a piece of rock that act as an obstruction making it comfortable for the bath.

Um Dawai Falls

It is a bamboo bridge (Jingkieng Siej) the forest with the river beneath the bridge . Um Dawai is the purest fall coming out from the rock. From the local version, it is believed that if you have faith, this water is a medicinal form which can heal all ailments.

Um Lwai Falls

It is the tallest waterfall in the area, Um Lwai is derived from Lwai, a species of honey bee that is larger than the common species thrived and formed hives along the cliffs of this waterfall, 50-60 years prior, back when this spot was a dense forest and Um alluding to the nectar means the honey produced by Lwai.

 

Ka Knem Ba dang Thymmai

It is a cave which is naturally formed mostly by sand and clay which was first discovered in 2019 by the park committee members. This caves is 78 meters deep. The cave widen up for another 70 meters after heavy rain.

The Garden of Cave is a natural habitat created by the seasonal waterfall. It is truly known by the decorated natural park amidst the rain forest in East Khasi Hills. Around 1-2 hours peaceful walk through the hilly paths of ‘Garden of Caves’ refreshes our mind and soul and definitely a lifetime experience. 8. If someone wants to have umbrella, trekking pole than one can get from the Counter by paying the charging fees and if someone wants to shoot film inside the cave than you have to pay the fees.
