Garbhanga Reserved forest is situated in Assam-Meghalaya hilly areas near Guwahati city. Almost 1500 hectors of this hilly land is very rich in terms of flora and fauna. This majestic forest area is a mixer of different kind of forests like moist deciduous forest, evergreen and semi- evergreen forest. Due to this differentiations Garbhanga is the home of nearly 30 mammal species, 50 reptile species, 208 rare and residential bird species and 108 butterfly species. This includes animals like Elephant, Hoolock Gibbons, Yellow throated Marten, Asian Palm civet, leopards, deer etc. Rare birds like Silver-breasted broadbill, Red- headed trogon, Long-tailed broadbill, Oriental dwarf kingfisher, White-bellied Erpornis,RufescentPriniaetc are also recorded here.
