Nameri National Park is located in the Sonitpur district of Assam, this park was built in 1978. Covering an area of 200 sq.km. It is generally considered an ideal habitat for elephants and tigers. It is also home to Bisons, Leopards, Sambar, Hog Deer, Giant Squirrel, Wild Boar, Sloth Bear, Himalayan Bear and many more. Around 300 species of birds abound here. The rare White-winged Wood Duck also thrives here in this park which is the state bird of Assam.
